Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about purchasing, deploying, and operating LCS.

No. The system is designed to run entirely on a local network. Internet access is not required for any core functionality — map rendering, asset tracking, logging, or export. All map tiles and application dependencies are bundled locally.

A Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB or 8GB) is the reference platform. The system also runs on any Linux machine with Node.js. Operator devices (laptops, tablets, phones) need only a web browser and a connection to the same local network.

No. Every edition is a one-time purchase. All patch and minor updates within the 1.x branch are included at no additional cost. Major version upgrades (e.g., v2.0) may be offered separately at a discounted upgrade price for existing license holders.

The documentation is the support. LCS ships with a comprehensive Technical Deployment Manual, an Operator Guide — Field Edition, and a Quick-Start Card. There is no helpdesk, no managed service, and no SLA. This is a self-deployable system.

Yes. Configuration files may be modified for internal use. The license permits internal customization. Redistribution of modified or unmodified versions is prohibited.

Any device on the local network with a web browser can access the system — laptops, tablets, phones, projected displays. There is no device limit. The license is per-organization, not per-device.

It depends on your edition. Core includes 1 concurrent instance, Pro includes 2, and Team includes 5. Each edition also permits unlimited cold spares — prepared devices ready to take over if an active instance fails. Cold spares must remain inactive until needed. This is standard continuity practice.

All data is stored in a local SQLite database that persists across reboots. The LCS service restarts automatically when the device powers on. Regular backups and CSV exports provide additional protection for critical operational data.

No. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no external communication of any kind. LCS makes zero outbound network requests. Your data stays on your hardware. We have no access to your operational data.

LCS is designed for anyone responsible for coordinating assets and personnel who needs operational resilience — event coordinators, houses of worship, small municipalities, volunteer organizations, amateur radio groups, field operations teams, and any organization that cannot depend on internet access for coordination.

LCS does not offer a free trial. However, the product page, documentation descriptions, and FAQ provide thorough detail about what you're purchasing. All sales are final, but if you experience a technical issue preventing use as described, contact us within 14 days.

The LCS Bridge is a planned optional add-on that will integrate LCS with SafeReady, our guided safety assessment platform. It will enable asset sync, personnel sync, emergency plan export, and map overlay between the two systems. It is not required for standalone LCS operation.
